He watched as the little girl reached the end of the block, crossed the street and turned and walked up the steps into the grade school. He waited until she disappeared inside.
Then he walked back to his house.
“She’s in the school,” he said.
“George, she wanted to go all by herself today.”
“I know, but she’s only six, and she’s so little,” said the girl’s father.
