It was an easy birth; he practically swam out of the birth canal. His parents took him home, and, as he walked to his first day of school, waved with bittersweet smiles. Popularity came easily to him, and he had numerous friends at his tenth birthday party. He gave his mom a peck on the forehead as he left for Army basic training, and before she knew it, he was home after a four-year tour in Europe. He attended his parents’ funeral with his wife of twenty years. His Pulitzer Prize for Literature sits next to his urn.
