All Their Tomorrows, by Mary Wallace

10/7/2020

It had been a tragic accident. As a Minister, he believed! God, heaven and life after death were as natural to him as breathing. Perhaps souls didn't go straight back to their maker as he thought, perhaps they too had to wait for the rapture before meeting God.

He would have sworn on a stack of Bibles that he had seen Ian McMurray enter a grave, miles from where he had laid him to rest that very afternoon. The Reverend thought of young Terry Stewart and smiled. His God was indeed a merciful God.

This story makes you ponder what happens to us after we depart from here...good story!

Thanks for reading Pamela.

Quite mysterious, indeed, Mary. Probes questions about the Hereafter that I'm sure we've all pondered. Good job.

Your story took my imagination to the misty countryside of Wuthering Heights, one of my favourite novels.
Thank you for your inspiring words, Mary.

Your preoccupation with afterlife is so engrossing and insightful, Mary ...

I really like this story because it poses more questions than it answers. That's frustrating, but the perfect flash story!

Thanks Lucinda, it was a follow on from last weeks flash fiction, if that helps.😊

The knowledge that maybe you can share your grave in rapture before entering the afterlife warms the soul. Food for thought as always, Mary.

Thanks Sue. The Rapture is the name given to the time when all believers are called to heaven. In my story the dead have to wait too....but perhaps not alone.😊

I like the casual, reflective tone of this one

Since Friday Flash Fiction began in September 2013, 100-word stories have remained its 'beating heart'.

Normally, 100-word stories are scheduled for 07.00 BST (GMT in the winter) on the following Friday. However, where a larger number of stories (more than 25) are due to be published on the same day, we publish the later ones EARLIER around 4.00 am. On the rare occasions where there are more than 50 stories, we'll post an even earlier set, probably around 2.00 am UK time.
