Ted ventured into the kitchen hoping to get consolation from Mother.
“Finished your homework?” she asked.
“When will dinner be ready?” he answered.
“You’re leapfrogging over my question.”
Ted was speechless.

Ted sought refuge in his bedroom, letting the family dog in before closing the door.
“Rufus,” he started. “What animal do I remind you of?”
The dog stared into Ted’s eyes. Momentarily he lay down, head secured on his human’s lap.
