Geoff Jones, who suffered from a pronounced stutter, started to reply, “Mr F-F-F-Fraser, p-p-please – ”
“I’ve heard enough, Jones. Never a week goes by without complaints about you using F-words. This can’t go on.”
Jones was perplexed, which in itself amplified his speech impediment. “Mr F-F-Fraser, I’m f-f-flabbergasted. I can’t help my stutter.”
“It’s nothing to do with your stutter, Jones. It’s this ‘Friday Flash Fiction’ nonsense – every single Friday without fail. I’m afraid I have to let you go.”
“But Mr F-F-Fraser… I’ll improve!“
“Enough! You’re f-f-fired.”
For anyone who has a stammer/stutter/"speech fluency disorder", it can be deeply frustrating. There's lots of available information on the web, including this UK material at stamma.org.
