Jody chatted online with Bobby every night. They were both 13 and loved volleyball. He was coming to her next game.
She sent him photos of herself with her cat.
“Do you like cats?” Bobby asked.
“I love them! Do you?”
She knew he would, they liked all the same things.
“Yes!” he responded. “I had one, back in the day.”
Jody froze. She’d once heard Grandma say “back in the day”. Her Mom explained that only old people talked like that.

“Mom’s here. I’ve got to go.” She lied. Then went to tell her parents.
