A small boy knelt before a shack of a house, dressed in hand-me-downs. His toes poked through shoes with ragged holes. He was pushing a rock through a puddle.
“What are you doing?” George asked.
The boy looked up, dark eyes shining in the gleam of the street light.
“I am building a castle,” he said.
