The marriage, like all marriages, was blissful at first, but even happily married couples bicker and nitpick at times. He was a bachelor for so long, he was not accustomed to the needs of others. “Am I still pretty?” she asked. “Of course, you are. You haven’t aged a day” was his reply. “You know I used to be a vegetarian” she would remind him. The bickering was getting tiresome.

Surely vampires can divorce. He'd have plenty of time to find another wife. But perhaps he just wanted to feel the warmth of the sun on his face.
