“What? How long you gonna be gone?”
“Three weeks. You told me it was fine; you guys would cover me.”
“Did you ask June about it?”
“She said she’d pull double shifts for half the time I’m away and you’re here anyway.”
“That doesn’t mean I’ll cover any shifts; I have to cook while you and June serve.”
“So can I go?”
“Sure. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
Emma unpinned her name tag and threw it on the counter.
“I’ll take that uniform, too,” Jack said.
