"I'm leaving," she said, her voice hard, cold and final.
"I can't stop you," he said. There was nothing else to say.
"All right then. Goodbye. My lawyer will call you and make arrangements."
He cab arrived and whisked her away. He stood for a moment, staring into the falling dusk; then took out his cell phone. "She's gone," he said. "I'll be with you in half an hour."
