“Goodbye, Bailey.”
I grip the edge of my seat. At last, after four years of college, four years of veterinary school, another year of saving money, I am finally able to do what I’d been wanting to since I was fourteen. I am finally getting a dog. I haven’t had a dog in eleven years, ever since Bailey had… gone. My parents said that I was going to college in three years anyway, and they had had dogs all eighteen years of their marriage, the reasons were endless. Why am I hesitating? I bow my head, whispering two words.
“Goodbye, Bailey.”

Lovely Camilla! I understand - you want to love another but feel disloyal at the same time. I reckon they'd understand though 💛

I'm sure Bailey would want you to show kindness and love to another of his kind.

When we get a new pet, we are not replacing the other pet we are simply enlarging the menageries. Love is not a finite resource.

Bailey will never be gone. He'll live in your heart beside your new best friend.
