Jenny Orchid grinned at her smug reflection in the dressing-table mirror. It had worked out rather well: miraculously, she'd just escaped in time from the tragic carbon monoxide accident that had claimed the lives of sisters Antonia and Rachel, and mother Claire. The coroner had blamed a fault; Jenny's own 'contribution' to the event would remain undiscovered. Jenny had inherited everything, including everyone's sympathy.
Suddenly, the mirror revealed outlines of her mother's and sisters' faces on the bedroom walls. Jenny smelled smoke; the house was on fire. When she realised she was locked in, Jenny screamed. No one heard her.
