I awaken in the darkness and instinctively reach over for you but pull my hand back because I don’t want to disturb you. In the quiet of the night, I lay still, imagining your silhouette, saying a silent prayer for you, hoping you’re at peace. There is so much I want to tell you, but this is not the time. So I cast my gaze your way until rose light fills our room and I can once again see your place and, with your name on my lips, imagine you are still beside me.
