For those unaware, "A modest man, with much to be modest about" is a quote attributed to Conservative UK PM Winston Churchill about his post-war Labour successor, Clem Attlee. Attlee's government created the National Health Service and the Welfare State, which – for all its faults – is still something the vast majority of British people take great pride in.
