Look at Me, by Don Tassone

DJ lived a storied life, yet his most cherished memory was his first.

When he was four, DJ wandered into his parents’ bedroom and glimpsed his reflection in his mother’s full-length mirror. After that, he couldn't stop looking at himself, and he wanted everyone else to look at him too.

DJ got his wish.  He devoted his life to calling attention to himself and became the most famous man in the world.

But eventually the world had enough and turned away. Desperate to be seen, DJ ran to a mirror and gazed upon the loneliest face in the world.

Once again, Don, you remind us to consider well where we place our values in life. Sadly, DJ chose appearances above better things.

If DJ had a last name, it might be Narcissist. As always, good job, Don.

Who would have thought that the delusional belief that one is all important might have negative consequences?
A great read.

Still laughing at Peppermint‘s comment. Good story, Don. That makes you wonder, doesn’t it why some people who are knockout beautiful don’t seem to know it. And others who are somewhat attractive can’t take their eyes off themselves.

DJ's life story will soon be made into a movie – "Citizen DJ", starring Orson Welles. At the end, we'll discover that the mirror's name was "Rosebud".

Ha! Not sure his ego would’ve deflated simultaneously. POOF!

To some, only Me, Myself, and I matter until reality stares them right back in the face.

The world gets bored looking at his face, and moves on. Natural story, Don.

"Eventually" may take a very long time with many changes.
Ominous trajectory for a little kid.

Since Friday Flash Fiction began in September 2013, 100-word stories have remained its 'beating heart'.

Normally, 100-word stories are scheduled for 07.00 BST (GMT in the winter) on the following Friday. However, where a larger number of stories (more than 25) are due to be published on the same day, we publish the later ones EARLIER around 3.00 am. On the rare occasions where there are more than 50 stories, we'll post an even earlier set, probably around 2.00 am UK time.

We have a FACEBOOK PAGE where regular contributors can share ideas and discuss stories. Why not join in?
