It no longer has ink, but I kept it as a tribute for everything we’ve done together.
The pen was a useful friend. It was there for me when I wrote letters I wouldn’t dare send to a friend I liked, when I answered Math homework that made me cry, or when I wrote stories about my sappy feelings.
Now the pen is gone; my eyes well up.
Gosh, maybe Mother was right.
