“Isn’t it obvious?”
He stared off into the distance trying to see whatever I saw, rain dripping down his hat.
“What? That old tractor?”
“Yep.”
“Why?”
“It’s the only thing keeping this farm going.”
Just not anywhere anytime soon.
“Stuck?”
“It’s been raining for three straight weeks. What do you think?”
He stood and pondered a minute, as if he knew what to do.
“Can’t you pull it out?”
“With what?”
“Another tractor.”
“You see another tractor around here?”
He looked around at nothing.
“I guess you’re stuck.”
He had no idea how right he was.
