People trudging into the diner were sodden and depressed. They huddled within themselves with little conversation and no smiles.
A young mother entered and released her son onto the floor, “Careful, Jack.” The toddler was anything but careful. He sped about testing his newfound and wobbly mobility. Jack’s eyes shone and he squealed with delight at all the wonders. He bounced off the large chairs and laughed at eye contact. Then, raced back for a morsel from his mother.
The mood lifted notwithstanding the blizzard.
Jack frolicked undeterred by his tumor.
