Probably Not For The Likes Of Me, by Andy Martin

The fire crackles and I place more wood into the flames. Orange light flickers over her face as she sleeps. So beautiful, but pregnant, and the baby's not mine.

Smoke rises into the air, and I sit back, looking into the clear night sky.

I must admit, the star everyone is talking about is impressive. They say it's a sign that a change is going to come. Probably not for the likes of me though.

Looking down the hill, in the distance I can just make out the lights of Bethlehem.

I read your story Ghost. I couldn't comment directly because comments were closed but I liked it very much.
Great twist. Great characters in so few words!
