Two vampires burst into the tunnel, sharp fangs exposed, hungry for blood.
Max sensed his companion move and turned to face him.
‘Catch!’ he said.
Max leapt up and caught the wooden stake in his right hand as one of the vampires lunged towards him. Using his downward momentum, Max stabbed the vampire through the heart stopping him dead.
His companion threw a second stake straight into the heart of the other killing him. Both vampires turned to ash exploding into a cloud of dust in the air.
‘You knew didn’t you?’ Max said. ‘Why else would you bring stakes?’
