Editor's Choice
The quiet sadness in this final Editor's Choice took my breath away when I read it. It's a wonderful example of 'less is more'.
I had observed a peacock sitting on the terrace of the vacant house opposite every day, and then flying to the mini-forest behind, owned by the government. It often looked at me, the lonely man, with curiosity, but never came closer.

One day, I saw the bird sitting longer than usual, and then flying in another direction.
They were flattening the forest for some buildings.
