He watches a yellow leaf float down and land in the still-green grass. Five months ago these trees were budding out. He is mindful that, to the leaf, five months is a lifetime.
He wonders if the leaf and the tree miss one another. He thinks about the leaf disintegrating, dissolving into the Earth, becoming one with another tree.
The season is changing. His pace is slowing. His stride is growing shorter. He wonders if one day, like the leaf, he will begin anew.
