She hung up the phone. Tears began to run down her cheeks. Maybe next time she called she would leave a message. No one would hear it, of course. She wondered how much longer it would be before the voice mail message would disappear altogether, leaving her with no way to hear her son's voice. The hundreds of family photos in her picture album were not as comforting as the sound of his voice. She pressed the green button again on her cell phone.
"Hi...this is Andrew...."
