The river was the edge of the world. Everyone knew that. So when the boy’s tracks were found in the muddy bank, leading into the misty waters, everyone knew he was lost. Yet his sister, determined even when no one else held a hint of hope in their hearts, set out to search for him.
“Don’t go any farther, one step more will take you over the edge of the world.” One step farther took her into the swift current; she staggered, slipped, reached out her hand, and felt another, a strong woman’s hand, pulling her onto the other side.
