Running in the dust of yesterday's mud. This is home and has been for as long as I remember, not that I have memory. I live in the moment. I don't think of yesterday, no sense of 'tomorrow'. Today, here, now. Today makes me happy. As does this tall visitor who laughs and talks a lot. He finds me amusing, I don't know why. He feeds me, he loves me. We run in the dust today, happy. Leaving, he waves goodbye. Calls me Billy. Says he'll return soon. What's 'soon'? I know only now. What's a 'Billy'? I'm a goat.

'Live for today,' says Billy. We humans should take a leaf from the animals and put aside the past and future; just live for the next feed or pat on the head. Good lesson in this story, Romeo. Comments are closed.
