She was from the generation when women were discouraged to go into mathematics and yet here she was teaching math to a listless college juniorbecause math was required although my attention was notuntil she woke me by asking how much is one plus one and showing it could be one zero as my flashcards imploded my mind exploded to understanding bases that were not first second or third but two and ten and computers, Morse code and dendrites on-off firing awakened me from my stupor to the arena of ideas and sadly I can’t remember her name.
