The rain had started at the graveside, as if it knew Sarah no longer had the strength for tears. It had continued all morning, drowning out words of consolation from friends and family.
Alone finally, she retrieved her husband’s jacket from the hall closet, losing herself in its size and the familiarity of his scent. Sarah pulled the jacket tighter.
Silently, she watched the rain.
