Thinking about the recent upheaval back home, Greg sang the line from an indigenous folk-song: “The wheel of justice, backed by the wind of injustice, always comes to a full-circle.”
Greg was standing in the middle of the Peace Park, near the beautiful volcanic Lake Atitlan in Guatemalan highlands. In 1990, the place was a farmland. The right-wing death-squad (backed by covert US-operation), mowed down dozens of innocent indigenous farmers to spread fear against any uprising. Suddenly, he remembered the assassination of Chile’s democratically-elected Allende, again backed by US. And then the long-running wars in Vietnam and recently in Iraq!
