Neil sat up. he had dozed off in the afternoon, the clock showed a quarter past ten. Diners closed early in that small town. Neil was hungry, so he looked around if some eatery was open, but without any luck.
Just as he turned to go home, he heard a low growl nearby. He found himself standing in the street infamous for stray dogs and a moment later, being chased by one.
After sometime, while catching his breath in some alleyway, he smelled hot dogs. Like a hound, Neil sniffed his way to a Hot dog stall round the corner.

Her lips her smile
her cold feet
against my skin
her nails driving
down my spine
her rusted locks
flapping in the wind

“Here come the marching nurses.”

“They do march, don't they?”

“Twenty-four-seven. And who's that with them?”

“Fauci.”

“Of course. Flashing that sheepish grin, as he waves to the crowd.”

“With the teachers leading the way and Capitol police officers by their sides, along with ER doctors and nurses, it certainly lends a different focus to this year's celebrations.”

“Yes, no sports personalities or music legends to praise.”

“It's all about the reality these days.”

“Yes, let's remember our true heroes.”

“Speaking of heroes, here come the trash trucks!”

“Right on time.”
