Opportunities at Friday Flash Fiction
Friday Flash Fiction has had the same editor since its first website was launched back in 2013. Now, twelve years later, it's time for a change, and to allow someone else to take the reins.
Friday Flash Fiction is a weekly online publication specialising in micro-fiction of 90-100 words. It considers submissions in the English language from all over the world. Over the years we have published more than 30,000 stories contributed by many hundreds of writers for the benefit of thousands of readers. "FFF" – as our community affectionately often refers to itself – is proud to have offered hundreds of first-time writers the chance to try out their skills, and that many of our number have gone on to more ambitious challenges including full-length short stories and novels. Our number includes major award-winners, but at Friday Flash Fiction we are all the same. Each year, currently we run three contests: our long-standing Christmas Competition; our Edinburgh Festival Contest in August; and – in March – the Andrew Siderius Memorial Contests to honour the memory of the son of one of our number. Entries, like our submissions, are free to all who respect our rules: lack of means should be no barrier to literary expression. We accept no advertising or paid-for content; Friday Flash Fiction is supported solely by voluntary donation. We also have a Facebook Page where regular contributors can comment or share news, and we have some other social media presence as well. As current editor, I feel the time has come where I need to encourage new blood in order that FFF might grow and continue to flourish. It's a fantastic opportunity to make friends and contacts, to develop one's editorial skills, and to learn all aspects of running a successful worldwide site. I highly recommend it. Should you be interested in applying, and wish to download the job specification for Editor, please click on the button on the right. If there are no suitable applicants, we might also consider restructuring with an alternative post of Editor-in-Chief. Applications should be sent in the body of an email to: by 30th June 2025.
