Flowers, by Malvina Perova

17/6/2022

When the war puts against the wall
Your hopes and dreams
And shoots them in cold blood,
You stop taking colours of the world
From ordinary mud.
You think,
What is the point of joy or glooming
And doing all that you do?
What is the point of flowers blooming?
But hey,
They bloom

Lovely poem, Malvina. Artists and writers are like flowers. We're here to bloom and bring beauty to a muddy world. Stay safe, stay strong.

Despite the odds, flowers bloom. The point? With their bright color and soft fragrance, they paint the picture of hope. Of a better tomorrow.
Hang in there kiddo

Flowers are blooming and you are too, Malvina, with your expressive words. As others have suggested, be strong and hopeful. Change for the better is yours to gain.

You keep blooming too, Malina. You are a shining blossom in the mud of war.

Things will change for sure and people will start noticing the blossoming flowers. Hope for the best.

Specially grateful to our amazing editor, Gordon, for this lovely picture. It's beautiful and touching, and so very true. Sends me ripples of déjà vu. Thank you!

Dear Malvina, it is said to " bloom where you have been planted ".Your life has done just that as shown through your writings. You are an inspiration and my prayers are with you.

    Poetry

This is the section where fiction prose becomes something else. We still expect the poems to be short, though – sonnets, perhaps, or around that length at the very most.

    Poems submitted should be
    no longer than 160 words
    and contain
    no more than 16 lines.

100 words remains the approximate target...

    AND SO THEREFORE:
    We have decided
    We really don't like haikus
    They're not proper verse.

Please submit using the Poetry Submissions Page.

Please feel free to comment (nicely!) on any poems – writers appreciate it.
Just at the moment, though, we're moderating some of them so there might be a slight delat before they appear.
