Life Play, by David Chek Ling Ngo

14/1/2022

She pulls herself back
only to be launched anew,
with a leap of faith.

Inevitable
it seems as he tries to keep
his spirit alive.

This can go so many different places in one's head (and heart).
But that's the whole idea, isn't it?
Nicely done, David.
Jim

Very insightful, Jim. Yes, even if it means falling on your back. Many thanks.

David, I read your poem on my phone at first, but the image didn't appear (it's an issue with my phone sometimes). I imagined her in a giant slingshot being pulled back and let go. Now that I see it on my laptop, I love the picture you included, and the poem!

Many thanks for reading it Dee. I like the imaginative image you created and the powerful 'let go'.

Your poems are always inspiring, David. Beautiful imagery in the photo.

Dee again, David. I wanted to let you know you inspired me. Thank you! After reading your poem, I couldn't let go of that image I had in my mind of a giant slingshot and your words stayed with me. So I wrote a prose poem drabble about flight, freedom, and faith. It's "Launch Me" and it was published Sunday. Here's the journal link, so you can see the intro and photo I chose, too: https://agapereview.com/

That's a really powerful poem, Dee! So beautifully done. The hard work is recognised and rewarded with power again and again.

Thank you, David.

    Poetry

This is the section where fiction prose becomes something else. We still expect the poems to be short, though – sonnets, perhaps, or around that length at the very most.

    Poems submitted should be
    no longer than 160 words
    and contain
    no more than 16 lines.

100 words remains the approximate target.

Please submit using the Poetry Submissions Page.
