THANK YOU!
for submitting your entry to the 2023 Christmas Competition. We look forward to reading it!
Although we usually try to post on Fridays, many of your stories and poems will appear on other days during the competition to allow us to spread our workload. We don't – can't – acknowledge your work individually. You'll know if your story or poem has been accepted when it's published, and we also flag new work on Twitter.
We try to accept most things, but I'm afraid we have to reject submissions that:

We try to accept most things, but I'm afraid we have to reject submissions that:
- that are too long (and sometimes too short);
- that are offensive or inappropriate;
- that are not sufficiently well-written, with poor grammar or spelling. I'm afraid we don't have resources to edit poorly-prepared work;
- that aren't actually fiction, but are instead essays, true events, religious proselytising or polemic;
- where the submissions form has been incorrectly completed. It drives us mad and is currently the most common reason for rejection;
- particularly in the case of new contributors, where we are unable to confirm that the details supplied on the submission form are accurate.
THERE MIGHT BE DELAYS IN POSTING STORIES, ESPECIALLY ON THE FIRST FEW DAYS. THE SITE ISN'T MONITORED 24/7 AND AT THIS TIME OF YEAR I HAVE SOME FAMILY COMMITMENTS.
BUT I'LL DO MY BEST.
BUT I'LL DO MY BEST.
However we do hope you enjoyed writing for us and will write again, during the Christemas Competition and in the future. However, please remember that you're limited to two entries across the entire two weeks. Entries close at 23:59 GMT on Friday 15th December 2023. During the two weeks of this year's competition, and for a few days afterwards, we won't be publishing any non-competition stories or poetry.
