The "beating heart" of Friday Flash Fiction is, and always will be, our 'Classic' 90-100 word stories. Over the years, we've allowed regular Classic 100-word contributors the chance to showcase their other work here, and in the Short Poetry caregories, but we expect all writers to respect our core work by contributing 100 word stories regularly .

For guidance, at least 85% of your published work should be Classic stories,
and those Classic stories should have been recently submitted.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS STILL APPLIES TO THOSE WHO HAVE ENTERED
PAST CONTESTS – YOUR LONGER STORY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED TWO CLASSIC 90-100 WORD STORIES. WE CHECK!

STORYBOX (for stories of 151-500 words)

Please complete the form below, taking special care to complete the box immediately below EXACTLY as requested.
Please remember the author's name, and don't CAPITALISE EVERYTHING or include "inverted commas'
    THE HOUSE STYLE IS IMPORTANT:
Please include the appropriate capitals, the comma, the word "by", relevant spaces and the name you wish to use.

e.g. The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, by John Le Carré (This will be copied and pasted directly to the top of your story.)

Total number of words in your submission, NOT including the title. Our preferred maximum is 100 but we'll consider up to 500. We currently do NOT accept stories of 101-150 words.

Must be 151-500 words (inc) long. Please make sure your wordcount is accurate.
Please insert your story into the "LONGER 151-500 WORD STORY" box below.
Write story text in here – or copy and paste from your favourite word processor. However please be aware that we can't accept poorly formatted work or work written in poor English, or stories in bad taste. We notify all new stories on Twitter.
(Although we try to accommodate italics, etc., in other categories where possible, we generally have to post Longer flash "as submitted".)

This is to assert your copyright, and also to allow us to comply with GDPR regulations, etc..
For more details, see our page under "GDPR Compliance". There's nothing sinister here, we're just ticking a box, too.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT LONGER 151-500 WORD SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
UNTIL YOU HAVE HAD TWO CLASSIC 90-100 WORD STORIES PUBLISHED

Please... before you click "Send My Story", make one last check that:
YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE FORM EXACTLY AS REQUESTED.
TAKE PARTICULAR CARE WITH THE TOP BOX

SEND MY STORY
By pressing Send My Story, I verify that the details I provide on this form are accurate and that my submission has been written within the last 7 days and has not been previously published elsewhere. (See top of page – simultaneous submissions are fine, however.)
