"The essential challenge of Friday Flash Fiction is to write a fresh new story or poem in time for publication that following Friday."

Christmas Contest Entries

As is now customary during most of our competitions, we accept only 90-100 word entries. On this occason you may submit either ONE story or TWO over the course of the two weeks up to 23:59 UK time on Friday 13th December 2024.

Special Entry Requirements for 2024

This year, for the first time ever at Christmas, there will be an extra requirement. Whether you are of a Christian faith or not, this is supposed to be the season of peace and goodwill, and the world could surely do with a little more of both at the moment.

In keeping with that sentiment, your entry must be 90-100 words in length AND must EITHER contain the words 'peace' OR 'goodwill' in your story but NOT BOTH. It doesn't matter which word you include in each story. Apart from that, the story can be about any topic.

You can have either one or two attempts. However, if you include 'peace' in your first entry, you must use 'goodwill' in your second, or vice versa. Have fun!

Clicking on the red box below will take you to the submissions form.

Sorry, but we need to allow ourselves to focus on those, and so we will not be accepting longer flash fiction or short poetry until around Tuesday 17th December.
