THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUBMISSION!

We look forward to reading it! As usual, you'll know if your submission has cleared our first hurdle if you see it posted at some point over the next few days.
We generally try to publish on Fridays. We don't – can't – acknowledge your work individually. You'll know your story or poem has been accepted if and when it's published.

THIS WEEK'S EDITION (PUBLISHED ON 28TH NOVEMBER, WILL BE MY FINAL 'ORDINARY' WEEK AS EDITOR, ALTHOUGH THE CHRISTMAS CONTEST IS STILL TO FOLLOW.

However we do hope you enjoyed writing for us and will write again in the future. However, please remember that you're limited to one submission across the entire site each week (which runs from Mondays up to our Thursday deadline at 22:59), or else we’ll struggle to cope with it all. Be aware, also, that we often get snowed under with many submissions arriving all at once, particularly near the Thursday evening deadline. The site isn't manned 24/7, so any story submitted close to the deadline might not be picked up in time. You'd be surprised how many people post submissions in the final hour. But we do our best.

Whatever you've sent us, and wherever you've sent it from, thanks again.
ALTHOUGH OUR DEADLINE IS THURSDAY AT 22:59 UK TIME,
WE'RE ALWAYS GRATEFUL TO HAVE SUBMISSIONS WELL IN ADVANCE.
SUBMISSIONS CLOSE TO THE DEADLINE CAN CAUSE US DIFFICULTIES.

THE COMMONEST REASONS FOR REJECTION
We try to accept most things, but I'm afraid we have to reject submissions:

  • that are too long (and sometimes too short);
  • that are 101-150 words long (this excludes poetry);
  • that are offensive or inappropriate;
  • that are not sufficiently well-written, with poor grammar or spelling. I'm afraid we don't have resources to edit poorly-prepared work;
  • that aren't actually fiction, but are instead essays, true events, religious proselytising or polemic;
  • where the submissions form has been incorrectly completed. It drives us mad and is currently the most common reason for rejection;
  • particularly in the case of new contributors, where we are unable to confirm that the details supplied on the submission form are accurate. Please switch off any virtual private networks temporarily, and be sure you're not using a proxy server such as workplace, university, college or school network. If you've made that mistake inadvertently, please re-submit correctly.

Also, please be aware that the main focus of Friday Flash Fiction is Classic 100-word fiction, and we no longer accept any longer stories or poems.

However we do hope you enjoyed writing for us and will write again in the future. However, please remember that you're limited to one submission across the entire site each week (which runs for exactly seven days up to our Thursday deadline at 22:59), or else we’ll struggle to cope with it all.

Whatever you've sent us, thank you.
