THANK YOU!
for submitting your story or poem to Friday Flash Fiction. We really appreciate your effort.
By and large, we try to post on Fridays, although we sometimes make exceptions for first-time ("debut") writers or for stories that have some special immediate resonance. We don't – can't – acknowledge your work individually. You'll know your story or poem has been accepted when it's published. Recent new authors are also listed on the Welcome page.
Our main focus is flash fiction of no more than 100 words, preferably in the 90-100 word range. However we also have (short) Poetry and Longer Flash Fiction sections, the latter requiring a wordcount of 151-500.
We try to accept most things, but I'm afraid we have to reject submissions:
However we do hope you enjoyed writing for us and will write again. Please try to respect our 'roughly one per week' policy, though; it just helps us to cope with the volume of submissions. Submitting early on Saturday UK time causes particular problems, so from now on there is a strict deadline of 23.00 UK time each Friday. Thereafter, stories will be held over until the following Friday.

We try to accept most things, but I'm afraid we have to reject submissions:
- that are too long (and sometimes too short);
- that are 101-150 words long (this excludes poetry);
- that are offensive or inappropriate;
- that are not sufficiently well-written, with poor grammar or spelling. I'm afraid we don't have resources to edit poorly-prepared work;
- that aren't actually fiction, but are instead essays, true events, religious proselytising or polemic;
- where the submissions form has been incorrectly completed. It drives us mad and is currently the most common reason for rejection;
- particularly in the case of new contributors, where we are unable to confirm that the details supplied on the submission form are accurate, please switch off any virtual private networks temporarily, and be sure you're not using a proxy server such as workplace, university, college or school network. If you've made that mistake inadvertently, please re-submit correctly.
- Also, please be aware that the main focus of Friday Flash Fiction is Classic 100-word fiction, and until you've had two 90-100 stories published, we won't accept any longer stories or poems.
However we do hope you enjoyed writing for us and will write again. Please try to respect our 'roughly one per week' policy, though; it just helps us to cope with the volume of submissions. FINALLY, PLEASE NOTE THAT WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REJECT WITHOUT EXPLANATION ANY SUBMISSION FOR ANY REASON, BUT PARTICULARLY WHERE WE ARE UNSURE ABOUT THE TRUE IDENTITY OF THE WRITER.
BEFORE YOU LEAVE HERE, HAVE YOU CONSIDERED LOOKING AT OUR NEW FACEBOOK PAGE? IT'S INTENDED AS A "FRIENDS-ONLY" SPACE WHERE ESTABLISHED CONTRIBUTORS CAN DISCUSS ANY ISSUES – I'LL ONLY POLICE IT VERY LIGHTLY, ALTHOUGH I'LL TRY TO RE-POST THE ODD STORY THERE, FOR INSTANCE THE "EDITOR'S CHOICE" ONES.
