By Jane Reid

28/2/2016

Six men diverged in fiery debate
And sorry I could not vanquish all,
I listened to their inane spate
Till I could endure no more hate
And clicked to let the silence fall.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere too many campaigns hence:
Some angry men shouted lies, and I
When voting, gave them all a bye.

I hope that will make a difference.

Follow The Path Of Rainbows, by Kathleen Trocmet

19/2/2016

I am White-Pure -- holding my baby darling
I am Yellow-Pale -- pruning my Texas roses
I am Orange-Pumpkin -- raking the fall leaves
I am Red-Blush -- talking to my lover
I am Purple-Royal -- singing in the choir
I am Blue-Quiet -- drinking tea on a showery April morning
I am Green-at-Peace -- sitting in my garden
I am Black-Sky -- viewing stars through my telescope
I am Multi-Colored-Swirl -- painting on my canvas
I am every hue, value, shade, tinge, tint, tone, and intensity
I am saturated with every color of the spectrum
Follow the path of rainbows and you will find me

U-Turn, by Soma Bose

3/2/2016

The wind whirled, turning at a point,
The bamboo leaves sounded cracking after being bent-
With the “U-turn” of winding blow-
There is no way to know-
When the wind will change its phase-
Turning to east or west? Only itself will remain to chase!

The river is flowing with the streams thrown back and upward-
Sometimes, its flow stops and turns towards any other downward,
It takes “U-turn” so suddenly that everybody takes it naturally,
But its sudden change of flow makes some land barren,
And some land becomes fertile with nourishment of heaven!

Human life is the replica of nature,
Sometimes love unites people but they can split in future-
As love may take “U-turn” to change into hatred,
And somebody can retain their love and somebody may be betrayed.

    Poetry

This is the section where fiction prose becomes something else. We still expect the poems to be short, though – sonnets, perhaps, or around that length at the very most.

    Poems submitted should be
    no longer than 160 words
    and contain
    no more than 16 lines.

100 words remains the approximate target...

    AND SO THEREFORE:
    We have decided
    We really don't like haikus
    They're not proper verse.

Please submit using the Poetry Submissions Page.

Please feel free to comment (nicely!) on any poems – writers appreciate it.
Just at the moment, though, we're moderating some of them so there might be a slight delat before they appear.
