to carry me away back to the past
or spin two magic reels
inside this dusty plastic shell
just to hear again the songs
we all loved
then you can ask me
how does it feel
to be the fearless traveller
through strange spaces and times

turn the black vinyl wheel
to carry me away back to the past or spin two magic reels inside this dusty plastic shell just to hear again the songs we all loved then you can ask me how does it feel to be the fearless traveller through strange spaces and times

If time travel were a thing, would we choose the past, the future, or stay in the present? Songs of the sixties always tug at my memory strings so that's where I'd head for.

Every epoch has its own beautiful music but I personally choose last five or six decades as my favourite and significant for the modern world of art in particular. Yet, I also choose to live in the present, whether it's time for art or not. 10/12/2022 06:32:41 am
It's more than just the music of that relished past for some - as made clear here in your wonderful poem, it's also the method of bringing it to life. A vinyl record, or a cassette tape, rather than a phone or iPod or Spotify. It's so interesting that so many connect a moment in time with a particular song (and the way it was played). I, being the weirdo I am, just enjoy the music of the past today, in this moment.

I appreciate your kind words and your interest in my poem. And, I could say that I am a weirdo, too. My interest for the music goes a little bit further because I create music, hopefully released on amazingly nostalgic format such as cassette tape. Comments are closed.

PoetryThis is the section where fiction prose becomes something else. We still expect the poems to be short, though – sonnets, perhaps, or around that length at the very most. Archives
