Malcom’s right hand lays tensely by his waist as Dr. West prepares the sedation anesthetic.
“What’s the longest anyone has stayed awake?”
“10.46 seconds—to be exact, and you’re around 6.5.”
Malcom accepts the challenge.
“11…, 12…,” Dr. West counts.
Attempting to speak, Malcom yelps as eight stitches in the back of his mouth deny him to do so.
“I’m joking,” said Dr. West. “The surgery is actually done and you passed out at 10.1 seconds. Everything looks great though! You’re free to be discharged.”
