I was once in their position, saved by the woman next door who led me to safety. She appeared on the TV screen, rescuing others as she did me. But back then, it wasn’t her job to assist me. Now, she puts out fires for a living, responding to distress calls often, her bravery televised nationwide.
I hold the sky in my hand. The sky remote, and change the channel to a news station. Breaking news. People are saved from a burning apartment building, taken to safety. The residents look bewildered, and smoke rises behind them, travelling to the sky.
