They pick him up. His blood pressure is fine but sugar level low. They mainline some glucose, leave when he refuses to go to the hospital.
“I absolutely cannot take this anymore,” she says. “Terrific headache... need... to lie... down...”
Her vision is blurred, tongue is uncontrollable, voice is stalled. He realizes she is having a stroke and whispers, “I have always loved you. Forgive me.”
She barely struggles when he presses a pillow over her head.
