It happened when she was sitting on the porch just before dawn. The air harboring the smell of recent rain and a chorus of crickets hailing her efforts. Working away and then “black”. What! She couldn’t see. She drew in a big breath and closed her eyes. Maybe when she opened them again, there'd be light. No...She let out her breath and began wringing her hands and cursing (something she never did in real life). Something has to work. It can’t be over. Not this suddenly. At least some parting words...but nothing. The laptop was gone.

How dreadful. I can't think of anything more disastrous than a (gulp!) totally disabled laptop! Good job, W. H.

My heart was racing with her. Nothing more ominous than a black screen. Well portrayed.
