“It’s not to you. It’s for you.”
“Why?”
“I can’t tell you why. You just have to trust me.”
Her eyes raged with anger as the tears began streaming.
“I hate you! I’ve always hated you! You’re not my father, and you never will be!”
She was right. He wasn’t her father. Her father left her mother pregnant and alone with nowhere to go. He stepped in to fill the role his brother wouldn’t.
“She doesn’t hate you, you know?”
“I know.”
“Don’t give up on her.”
He sighed. “What kind of man would?”
