It’s like the words to The Lord’s Prayer learned rote in early school years or at Christmas, singing Away in a Manger. A song comes on the radio unheard since your teens and you can still belt it out word for word, as toneless as ever. The anamnesis of sentences, that trip off the tongue when triggered despite the infrequency of recent use, without any thought to meaning. So, when the band struck up the familiar refrain, we automatically stood to attention and sang God Save Our Gracious Queen. To the new King.

Haha, so true. 12/5/2023 12:22:55 pm
I'm okay with the anthem. It's when we say 'God save the King' the wrong word comes out. Maybe there's an amnesty before getting carted off to the Tower.

Ha-ha. Never thought anamnesis would make me chuckle. God save the....The AC/DC version.

Never a truer word written, Stephen. And I so enjoy belting out those familiar, never forgotten songs. Comments are closed.
