Growing up, Pat had only one friend, a kid named Bill.
At high school graduation, Pat couldn’t make it up the steps to the stage to get his diploma, so the principal brought it down. Pat felt humiliated.
That evening, when everybody else was partying, Bill said, “Let’s go for a walk.”
Pat enjoyed it so much that he began walking on his own every day. With every step, he felt more hopeful.
Now, 20 years later, Bill is an exercise physiologist, and Pat runs marathons.
