Keith returned to the tent. Sunrise. He pulled back the flap and beheld Jackie sleeping. It was their 15th wedding anniversary, here in the Peruvian Andes. First rays awakened Jackie. She smiled beamingly.
Jackie and Keith became chummy while picking avocados in the kibbutz orchard. Mutual passions helped: Kerouac, Pink Floyd, curiosity. She was on sanity break from an Auckland nursing school. He was one year out of Boston College, satisfying wanderlust indefinitely. They decided to view dawn atop a Galilean hill. First rays highlighted Jackie’s face. Beatific, thought Keith. Maybe these coming months won’t be so ordinary after all.

I like the sound of "sanity break", namechecks for The Floyd and ol' Kerouac. Nicely done, Robert.
