When she got home, she noticed the curtains were closed and the lights turned off. She shut the door behind her and stared at darkness. “She would never leave on my birthday,” she thought. Turning around, she saw the fainted light of the moon from the oval window above her. All of a sudden, she felt a hand on her back. A bloody hand. She felt like fainting, and her heart felt like it was going to beat out of her chest. She turned around and felt her mom hug her. The curtains were open, and the lights went on.
