Most beautiful little apple I'd ever seen. Reached out to take hold and my hand fell off. Then I saw the sign hanging around the base. 'Poisonous. Do not stand under when raining.' See, they don't tell you it's always raining under the canopy of the tree that once held my little apple of death (yes, long gone now). It's not regular, crying-like rain either, it's acid rain - poisonous, scar-producing – comes off the leaves, and if you burn the bark it spreads like mustard gas. My little apple of death was a toxic something. Most beautiful though.

Avoid, avoid, and avoid the machineel tree if you know what's good for you...

I thought I might always like to hug a tree, but I might give this one a big miss, Bill. Comments are closed.
