The composition title was ‘My Proudest Moment’. Should I write about how I topped the Math test or won a medal at the Math competition? Or about that day when I was sitting on the ledge of my balcony, looking down 17 floors? When I felt that I was nothing. When my best friend had called me a nerd. When my parents told me to exercise more. I was getting fat! Then I saw a bird fly past, a twig in its beak. It was starting life. It had hope. I climbed off the ledge. That was my proudest moment.

The right choice was made...a true proud moment...

Our best moments aren't always shareable but that doesn't diminish their importance.

Thanks for your comments. I’m a teacher and a student actually wrote that this was her proudest moment. It was certainly thought provoking.

The smallest things in life can bring hope when despair looms. So glad your student found something to be proud of that actually saved their life.
